Johnstone hit by scrap criminals

The Johnstone Band has been targeted by scrap metal criminals.

Johnstone Silver

The Johnstone Band is the latest band to suffer from scrap metal criminality.

Stolen

The Scottish band’s rehearsal room was broken into between 10.00pm on Tuesday 29th May and 7.00pm on Tuesday 5th June, with thieves making off with 2 BBb basses, 2 EEb basses, 1 euphonium, 1 tenor horn, 3 cornets, 1 baritone, 3 trombones and 4 bells from a set of tubular bells.

Scrap value

With the current scrap metal rate of £2.60 per kilo it is thought likely that the instruments may well find their way to some unscrupulous scrap metal merchant, as the instruments were not taken in their cases.
