The Wingates Band welcomed the Olympic torch as it passed through their home town on Thursday.

Relay

The relay headed through Westhoughton on its way to Bolton, and the band performed to the crowds as they waited to catch a glimpse of the golden torch.

A spokesman told 4BR: "We were delighted to be asked to welcome the Olympic torch as it passed through our stomping ground. There was an excellent turnout so it was something of a first for the band and a performance to definitely to tell the kids about in future!"
