Major changes at Brass in Concert

Quality led mission statement sees radical overhaul to points system at BiC.

The organisers of the Brass in Concert Championship have revealed the major changes that will be implemented to the scoring system for the world's premier brass band entertainment contest later this year.

Advisory group

An advisory group consisting of Malcolm Brownbill, Alan Morrison, Simone Rebello, Frank Renton, Kenneth Crookston and Stuart Bulmer have discussed various and methods in which this crucial aspect of the event could be driven forward.

As a result a radical new scoring system will be implemented, inspired by an event mission statement that emphasises the desire to see competing bands be free to display artistic excellence4BR

As a result a radical new scoring system will be implemented, inspired by an event mission statement that emphasises the desire to see competing bands be free to display artistic excellence.

In future there will be a weighted percentage of points allocated for ‘Quality of Performance’, ‘Programme Content’ and ‘Entertainment and Presentation’, with each adjudicator assigned a very specific role in the process which will not cross boundaries with judges deliberations in other categories.
