The 60th anniversary of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain is to be celebrated in the grandest manner of all this year with the news that the band will perform at the BBC Proms in August.
Fanfare
Seven members of the band played a part in the high profile media launch of the 2012 BBC Proms Season in central London earlier this week, where they performed a brand new fanfare, especially composed for the occasion by Artistic Director Bramwell Tovey.
The players were later whisked off the BBC Broadcasting House to record, ‘Fanfare for the Proms’ so that it can be used to help promote future events in this year’s Prom’s calendar.
Prom date
The young players rubbed shoulders with the likes of BBC broadcaster Kirsty Young and opera star Joseph Calleja at the launch, which saw the 2012 schedule announced with the news that the National Youth Brass Band will perform under Bramwell Tovey on Sunday 12th August at the Royal Albert Hall alongside the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain.
