Brass in Concert draw announced

The draw for Brass in Concert has taken place with eleven top bands looking to entertain in Gateshead in November.

The Sage Gateshead, Brass in Concert venue

The draw for the 36th Brass in Concert Championships, which will be held at The Sage Gateshead on November 18th has been announced.

Draw

The draw was made by George Bailey and Jessica Darby of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain before their recent concert in Weston-Super-Mare, with the help of David Bennett and John Woods of the BiC event organising team.

10 out of 11

With ten bands already accepting their invitations out of the usual 11 competitors that take part at the event, an extra draw number was placed in the striped bags (in the colours of both Newcastle United and Sunderland to ensure no local bias!) and picked out in the normal way.

It was later confirmed that Virtuosi GUS had accepted the final place on offer to compete at the Championship for the first time since 2000.

Full Draw:

1. Brighouse & Rastrick
2. Exchange Communications Whitburn
3. Co-operative Funeralcare
4. Tredegar
5. Grimethorpe
6. Leyland
7. Carlton Main Frickley Colliery
