LGB Brass from the London & Southern Counties will be celebrating its 90th anniversary this year.
Formed in 1922 by William Turner, the Stationmaster at Glynde Station, the band recruited players from the villages of Glynde and Beddingham.
Double celebration
In 2002 the band moved to its new home in Lewes, and became the Lewes, Glynde & Beddingham Band – LGB Brass for short.
So it will be something of a double celebration this year as the band enjoy both a 10th & 90th year birthday.
After many years of battling to survive, in 2002 the band moved to its new home in Lewes, and became the Lewes, Glynde & Beddingham Band – LGB Brass for short4BR
Former players
The band will be presenting a celebration concert in Lewes on Sunday 22nd April and is busy trying to contact as many former members as possible, in the hope that they may be able to join them for the event.
