Scottish Open champion and Albert Hall finalist Tongwynlais Temperance has announced the appointment of Josh Ruck as their new Resident Conductor.
Dream
The 19 year old Cardiff University music student recently led Severn Tunnel to the National Finals by winning the Welsh Area Fourth Section title in Swansea, and will take up his appointment with immediate effect.
"To work regularly with Tongwynlais is a dream come true," he told 4BR.
"They are a hard working band and this makes rehearsals enjoyable and productive. My first challenge is getting the ground work done for the forthcoming Grand Shield before Philip Harper comes in to add the magic!"

Work closely
Josh will work closely with the professional MD, where the band has already seen the makings of a great partnership.
"I'm very happy to now be working alongside Josh, who made such an impression taking rehearsals in the run up to the Area contest along with principal euphonium, Martyn Patterson. Josh’s achievements with Severn Tunnel show a great potential as a musical leader."
Excellent
Band Chairman Jason Bevan added: "Without a permanent resident we were very fortunate at the beginning of the year to have players such as Martyn and Josh in the ranks who are excellent band trainers, whilst Josh’s aspirations to further his conducting career have come at a perfect time for us all.
We’re looking forward to the opportunities that working with both Phil and Josh brings. It’s great to have a consistent and talented team in the middle of the band."
