When the Littleport Band, from Cambridgeshire, recently came third in the Second Section of the London & Southern Counties Regional contest, the band claimed two significant achievements.
Promotion and Finals
Not only did they qualify for the National Finals, but they also gained promotion to the First Section for the first time in their history.
A spokesperson told 4BR: "It was a well deserved podium finish. We had worked hard on 'Cross Patonce', and after coming 4th in the last two years and just missing out, we really pushed hard. We also knew we could also secure promotion with a good performance."

They added: "MD, Nigel Bramley, has reinvigorated the band since he took the helm in 2007. He has helped to create a work ethic and a real sense of team spirit which is now paying off in everything we do.
Everyone is so pleased with our result and it was a tremendous achievement to gain promotion. We feel ready to make the step up to the First Section."
