Recently crowned North West Area champion, Leyland, has announced the signing of flugel player Romana Hallstead.
Young star
The 14 year old former Milnrow Band player is regarded as one of the brightest young stars in the country.
"Romana's fantastic sound and style impressed the band from the first note," commented MD Leigh Baker. "She is a player with massive potential, is already a great soloist and possesses a confidence well beyond her years. We are excited to add her to the 'young guns' soloist stable and we look forward to seeing her flourish."
Star pupil
Romana is a member of the National Youth Brass Band and the Junior RNCM where she has worked with trumpet star Rex Richardson, and is a pupil of flugel virtuoso Helen Williams.

Fantastic
"I think it's simply fantastic," added Rex.
"Of course, Leyland is one of the world's top brass bands, and as everyone will soon know, Romana is a rising star of the brass world. Despite her tender age, I expect her to make a huge impression in her role. Her lovely sound and mature musicianship will speak for themselves."
