The Newhall Band has been celebrating after they gained a podium finish at the Midlands Area contest in Bedworth to send them to the Fourth Section National Finals in Cheltenham in September.

Good understanding

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Adjudicators Mike Kilroy and Peter Bassano felt that the band had showed a good understanding of the music and had played a technically competent performance with band and conductor in one accord."

Fund raising

They added: "The band is looking forward to playing in Cheltenham but we will now need to start fundraising to pay for the entry fee, music and other expenses that will be incurred to allow us to attend."
