Stalybridge Old Band under the direction of Graham Smith recently performed at Tameside's celebration of the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen in Ashton-under-Lyne.

In the audience was the Lord-Lieutenant for Greater Manchester, the Civic Mayor of Tameside, local Members of Parliament and many other civic dignitaries.

Hallelujah

The band accompanied a choir of 70 voices in a rousing performance of Handel's 'Hallelujah chorus' from 'The Messiah', and entertained the audience with a fine performance of Philip Sparke's 'Tameside Overture' ending the afternoon with their signature tune, 'It's a long way to Tipperary' by Jack Judge.
