A spokesperson told 4BR: "Preparations are well underway on the test piece 'The Devil And The Deep Blue Sea' and the band is looking to improve on last year's second place to earn a second trip to the Albert Hall."

Brian no stranger to Thoresby, having held the post of principal cornet in 1991 and conducting the band in 2005 for a series of engagements.

Thoresby is working exceptionally hard and I'm extremely happy with the progress they are making. With a week to go I'm looking forward to appearing on the contest stageBrian Grant
