There is a very strong field of contenders set to compete at the 11th Euro Brass contest in Drachten on the weekend of June 8th/9th.
Elite
The Championship Section contest will see reigning champion and Dutch national title holder Brass Band Schoonhoven, who will represent the Netherlands at the European Championships in Rotterdam this year, lock horns with a strong line up of rivals.
Impressive
Meanwhile, in the impressive B Section, bands from both Norway and Belgium will make the trip to see if they can claim the title from domestic rivals, which include last year’s winner Oefening en Uitspanning.
The Belgian band Euterpe from Merchtem will compete in the C Section against last year’s winner and current Dutch National Champion Constantijn Huygens as well as strong line up of other Dutch challengers.
Set works
Dr Peter Meechan’s ‘Lament’ will provide the set work for the elite bands, whilst Philip Sparke’s arrangement of ‘David of the White Rock’, and ‘The Turtle Dove’ in an arrangement by Etienne Crausaz will provide the tests in the other sections.
