Results: 2012 Burry Port Brass Solo & Ensemble

There was a great turn out of talent in West Wales as Burry Port celebrated its first Solo & Ensemble Day in style.

Burry Port

Burry Port Town Band recently held their inaugural youth Brass Solo & Ensemble Day in their home town, which proved to be a great success.

Soloists competed in various classes, with the ’10 and Under’ class won by Dino Caligary with a Gold Award, with Ellie Carlsen, Emily Lewis and Adam Morris each achieving Silvers and Bronze Awards awarded to Eloise Denny and Jessica Lewis.

Gold

In the ’12 and Under’ class, both Harry McBride and Cian Murphy achieved Gold Awards, as was the case in the ’14 and Under’ class with both Harry Lloyd and Rhodri Thomas claiming Gold. Heini Williams achieved a Silver Award in the ’16 and Under’ class.

Fun filled

Adjudicators Alan Bourne and Tom Daveron commented: "It was a real pleasure coming back to Burry Port to adjudicate this event and heartening to see Burry Port Band looking outside the tempting boundaries of self-perseveration to benefit brass playing of all levels throughout West Wales.

The day was both fun filled and musically exciting and we can’t wait to come back next year!"

High standard

The band’s Solo & Ensemble Day coordinator Geraint Thomas was delighted with the turnout and support for the day and added: "The standard of performance was very high throughout the age categories and I’m already looking forward to next year’s event."

Preparations for next year have already started, with a provisional date of Saturday 2nd February 2013 which will also include full Youth Bands in addition to this year’s classes.
