Brass in Concert Champions Leyland was in the recording studio last weekend putting the final touches to, ‘Songs in the Heart- The Music of Erik Leidzen’ in aid of the Clarence Adoo Trust.
Success
Conductor John Ward told 4BR: "After the success of the Dean Goffin recording last year, we decided to follow up with an Erik Leidzen project.
It has been a number of years since a recording was devoted exclusively to his wonderful music. We also wanted to recognise that Clarence is a retired SA bandmaster, so this idea seemed an excellent fit."

Outstanding performers
Guest soloists on the project were Kevin Ashman (cornet), David Childs (euphonium) and Davur Magnusson (trombone).
John commented: "They gave outstanding performances and each of them showed amazing support for the cause by making the eight-hour round trip to Preston."
Honour
Leyland Band representative, Gary Westwood was enthused about this particular opportunity for the band:
"Everyone at Leyland is delighted to be involved in supporting Clarence, as well as the chance to perform with three world class soloists. John’s knowledge of the repertoire shone through and made the whole weekend a musical pleasure, which we’re sure will drive the project to success."
