Youthful line up for Brass at the Guild Hall

A great line up of bands and some young ears to impress in the box at Brass at the Guild Hall.

The final touches are being put in place for the popular Brass at the Guild Hall contest which takes place on 5th February in Preston.

Prizes

There is a healthy line up of comeptitors this year with the doors opening at 9.00am for a full day's contesting, with prizes of £1,000, £300 and £200 on offer for podium finishers in each section.

Seven bands will compete in the Fourth Section starting at 10.00am, trying to catch the ear of adjudicator Paul Dalton, whilst they will be followed by six bands in the Second Section all trying to impress Mike Kilroy in the box.

Top section

The final event in the Grand Hall will be the Championship Section, where nine bands will be out to make a pre-Area mark with adjudicator Paul Andrews.

Whilst bands battle it out in the Grand Hall, the eleven bands in the Third Section will be trying to impress Steve Brodie in the Charter Theatre.

It also gives the bands the chance to see what form they are in ahead of the Area events and get the chance to impress a new set of youthful adjudicators tooDerek Atkinson

Great day

Lancashire Contest organiser Derek Atkinson told 4BR: "It promises to be a great day out with plenty of fine music to enjoy. It also gives the bands the chance to see what form they are in ahead of the Area events and get the chance to impress a new set of youthful adjudicators too!"
