Rainford welcome new trio

Rainford welcome a new trio of signings, including Black Dyke tuba star.

Rainford Band has announced the signing of a trio of new players ahead of the North West Area Contest in February.

Joining on repiano cornet is former Kirkintilloch and Besses O'th Barn soprano player Julie Gemmell, whilst Ian Scotson joins from Haydock on second euphonium.

Dyke tuba

The band also welcomes former Black Dyke tuba star Danny Sinclair on Bb bass.

Commenting on the arrivals Chairman Paul Rigby told 4BR: "I can't sum up in words how pleased I am to welcome the new players to the band. I am thrilled that our band is in this great position of attracting players of this calibre."

Test piece previews

On the 16th of February the band will also be hosting an area test piece preview evening at Warrington Salvation Army Citadel on Academy Street.

Featured bands are as follows:

Championship Section: Pemberton Old Wigan DW Band.

First Section: Rainford
Second Section: Greenalls
Third Section: Old Hall Brass
Fourth Section: Parr

Entrance is free, however donations of £1 are suggested to assist with the hire of the hall. It all starts at 7.30pm.

March 8 • Our COMMUNITY BAND meet every other monday morning(nxt one this monday) and we are looking for CORNET PLAYERS to join us.. you do not need to change your affiliation as we just offer free fun music making with cake and coffee thrown in.


Wakefield Metropolitan Brass Band

March 8 • Wakefield Metropolitan are looking for Bass player and percussionist to help the band move forward after a promising area performance


Ilkeston Brass

March 7 • Ilkeston Brass is a friendly 4th section band based in the SE of Derbyshire. We are looking for cornet players to continue our long heritage of brass banding. Cornet seat negotiable!
