2012 Gwent Youth Brass Festival

The finishing touches are being out in place for the 2012 Gwent Youth Brass Festival.

The Greater Gwent Youth Brass Band Festival will take place at Coleg Gwent, Crosskeys College on Saturday 28th January.

Good entry list

With a very good entry of 20 youth bands from Mid, South, West Wales and the Forest of Dean, the Debutante Section bands will start the contest day off on the stroke of at 9.00am, followed by School bands at 10.30am, Music Centre/County bands at 12.30pm and Independent/Community bands at 3.15pm.

Judges

The adjudicator for the Debutante and Music Centre/County sections will be David Childs, and the adjudicator for the Schools and Independent/Community sections will be Brian Buckley. The compere for the day will be David Hayward.

Programmes

Bands in the Debutante Section will play a programme of no more than 10 minutes, Schools Section, 15 minutes and bands in the Music Centre/County and Independent/Community Sections a programme of no more than 20 minutes.

All bands in the Independent/Community section are also allowed to play seven adults.

Debutante Section: Abergavenny Borough, Cwmtawe Training and Carmarthenshire Training

Schools Section: Croesyceiliog, Treorchy, Caerleon and Monmouth Schools

Music Centre/County Section: Cwmtawe Youth, Blaenau Gwent, Greater Gwent Schools, North Powys Youth, Aberystwyth Youth
Independent/Community Section: Abergavenny Borough, Cwmbran Brass, Usk Youth, Cinderford Academy, Blaenavon Town, Lydbrook Training, BTM Band, M3

Anyone wanting a super day out can listen to twenty brass band concerts for £3 adults and £2 concessions for the whole day.

Tickets will be available on the day. The times of the bands performances can be found on www.gwentmusic.net
