Sheffield United in new name

The City of Sheffield Band will now be known as Unite the Union Band after trade union links up to lend brotherly support.

The City of Sheffield Band has joined forces with the trade union Unite in an exciting three-year sponsorship deal, following a successful partnership with Unite the Union at the Durham Miners’ Gala in the past two years.

Deal

The deal has seen the a name change to ‘Unite the Union' Brass Band’ and the band will continue with their usual contest and concert programmes as well as representing Unite at a number of national events.

This new partnerships, along with some very experienced and talented new signings, continues an exciting period for the band as it looks forward to 2012 and beyondUnite the Union spokesperson
