Brighouse celebrate third double win

Brighouse & Rastrick delighted at third double win of 2011 — as they claim top 4BR Awards.

Brighouse & Rastrick is delighted to have claimed yet another banding ‘double’ according to Band President Paul Beaumont, after winning the 2011 4BR ‘Band of the Year’ and ‘Conductor of the Year’ Awards.

The double Yorkshire and National Champion and their MD were the clear winners in both categories with readers – a fact that Paul found especially pleasing.

Worldwide fans

"We know we have fans and supporters all over the world, so to gain the ‘Band of the Year’ Award, and for Professor David King to win the ‘Conductor of the Year’ for a third time is very pleasing – and shows just how popular and respected the band and its MD are.

David is thrilled at the Award and has asked me to thank all those people who took the time to vote for both him and the band."

Hard at work

Paul also revealed that the band is already hard at work, aiming to make 2012 even more special – with the target of double hat trick victories at the Area contest in Bradford and the National Finals in Lodon later in the year.

"We always want to win every contest we play in – and we will be aiming to do just that in 2012. To claim a hat trick though would be very special – and a double hat trick a quite amazing achievement."

Charity cause

At present the band is also hoping to use their fame to help a wonderful charity which is close to Paul’s own heart.

The band will combine 90 young vocalists from the Halifax Young Singers to perform at Huddersfield Town Hall on Saturday 28th January to raise funds for the Lord Mayor of Kirklees favoured charity, the newly constructed ‘Forget Me Not’ Children’s Hospice.

Raised millions

Brighouse will be directed by Associate Conductor Doctor Chris Davis OBE, who recently retired as the Principal Conductor of the Royal Marines, whilst the choir will be conducted by Lynn Hudson.

Paul added: "The charity has raised millions to build a children’s hospice in Huddersfield. It’s an amazing organisation that the band is honoured to be helping in this way. It puts all our tribulations about banding into perspective. My wife and I are especially committed to the charity, so we hope we can raise as much money as possible."

Further info

Tickets for the concert are available from Kirklees Ticket outlets on 01484 223200 or the Forget Me Not Trust Hospice directly on 01484 411040.
