Saddleworth set for test piece evening

The sound of Area test pieces will be heard ringing out over Saddleworth later this month — to help bands for Blackpool.

Blackppol

The annual Saddleworth 'test piece' evening is to be held at the Boarshurst Band Club, Greenbridge Lane, Greenfield, on Sunday 19th February.

Adjudicators

Dave Ashworth told 4BR: "Two eminent adjudicators have been engaged to give each band a written adjudication to assist in their final preparation prior to the North West Area Contest in February."

The evening will start at 7.30pm with the Fourth Section Saddleworth representative band, whilst Boarshurst Silver conducted by David will perform the Third Section set work.

The Second Section Dobcross Silver Band conducted by Kenny Payne, will follow, with Diggle Band under the direction of James Shepherd performing the First Section work.

Top section

To round off the night, Milnrow Band conducted by Marieka Gray, will perform the Championship Section set work.

Each band will play a short warm up item before playing the test piece, during which the adjudicators, David Horsfield and Colin Hardy will write out their respective adjudications.

Everyone welcome

As normal everyone is welcome and a charge of £2.50 per person will be charged to cover expenses.

The clubs bar will be open all evening in the members bar, however the concert room bar will be closed as so not to distract from the bands playing. As this is normally a very well attended event the doors will open at 7.00pm.
