The 2011 Brass in Concert champions, Leyland have announced the signing of Iain Culross as their new principal cornet.
The former top man at Faireys, YBS, Brighouse & Rastrick, Carlton Main Frickley and Sellers will take over from John Doyle who has moved to the soprano seat.
Looking forward
Iain commented to 4BR: "I’m really looking forward to working with Leyland. They are a great band and have a very well-run organisation in place as well as a number of exciting projects on the horizon."

Leyland has been busy scouting for new talent over the Christmas period, and has also announced the signing of Meghan Quane on repiano cornet. Meghan who played in the band’s recent Brass in Concert win, hails from the Isle of Man and is studying at the RNCM.

Japan signing
Meanwhile, Manchester University student Jonti Smith has joined on second euphonium after a stint at Rothwell Temperance, whilst Hiroko Koizumi joins on second horn – although she will be returning to Japan after the Area Championships in Blackpool. Hiroko usually plays with Tokyo City Concert Brass.
