Lancashire set for Guild and Tameside events

Two of the most popular contests in the North West will get an extra boost next eyar.

Lancashire Conterts has announced that it will once again be holding two of the most successful brass band contests in the calendar in 2012.

Brass at the Guild Hall

The popular Brass at the Guild Contest is now in its 12th year and provides bands with the ideal opportunity to give themselves an early season form guide.

Held at Preston Guild Hall on 5th February, it coincides with the ‘Preston’ ‘Guild’ Year, with the trustees adding extra benefits as a result to attract the bands to the own choice event.

There will be £6,000 in prizes, with the top prize in each section a very welcome £1,000.

Tameside Open

Meanwhile the organisers will once again host the Tameside Open, which will take place on the 25th March.

This contest gives many bands a second bite of the contesting apple, as it comes hot on the heels of the Area contests.

Despite the council having had to withdraw its usual sponsorship, they have still generously agreed to for the use of the excellent facilities at Dukinfield Town Hall if LC would take overall responsibility for the Contest.
