The young players Smithills School Senior Band tried their very best to inspire Owen Coyle’s Bolton Wanderers on the weekend, as they provided the pre-match entertainment at the Reebok Stadium prior to their Premiership fixture with Aston Villa.

But despite their fine efforts under the baton of Chris Wormald, Bolton failed to be lifted by the music as they went down to yet another defeat, and now find themselves in need of extra Christmas cheer from the band for their forthcoming Christmas Carol Service and the visit of Kenny Dalglish and Liverpool in January.
