Fairey announce McCabe as new principal

The Fairey Band has announced that Rothwell's James McCabe has taken over as their new principal cornet.

4BR has been informed that The Fairey Band has announced the appointment of James McCabe as their new principal cornet.

The immediate appointment of the Rothwell Temperance top man follows the news that they have parted company with former principal cornet player, Iain Culross.

Speaking exclusively to 4BR, Fairey Chairman Martin Gernon said: "James has one of the most impressive cornet CVs in the country. He is a former British Open Solo Championship Cornet champion, and has held the principal seat at Rothwell with great distinction over the years – a real a mainstay of their outstanding success.

We are delighted to have a player of his ability in our ranks and look forward to officially welcoming him after the Christmas break.”

He added: "The band would like to thank Iain for his time with Fairey and wish him well for the future."
