After three years in Abu Dhabi, Andrew Berryman is returning to the UK and back to the Wingates Band.
Reprise
The former MD will take up the baton once more as Professional Conductor, a reprise of the role his successfully held prior to his departure to the Middle East in 2008.
Band Chairman, Barry Bentley is naturally delighted by his Westhoughton return. "Wingates is delighted to welcome Andy back, and everyone is looking forward to working with him once again."
Bagpipe
In his three year tenure of the Abu Dhabi Police Band, Andrew completely restructured the musical organisation, as he told 4BR: "The music section was in need of a complete re-structure and along with help from Emma Johnson, we have done as much we can – especially as it was originally a drum corp and a bagpipe band."
Ever eager to explore new musical horizons, the appointment led to Andrew taking up the bagpipes as a hobby – a development that may come in handy with his desire to explore innovative combinations for entertainment contests in the future.

Appearance
"I’m sure they will make an appearance sometime in 2012," he said with a tongue carefully placed in his cheek. "I’m already working on arrangements for bagpipes and brass band. It could be interesting to listen out for."
In the meantime though, he will be concentrating on the music of Derek Bourgeois as he looks forward to working on ‘Devil and the Deep Blue Sea’ for the Area contest in Blackpool and with Wingate’s programme for the Butlins Mineworker’s Contest in Skegness.
