A very happy Ocean Brass have been celebrating after coming fifth out of 19 bands at the recent Wessex Open Contest in Weymouth.

Their performance of Gilbert Vinter’s ‘Symphony of Marches’ saw them come third against a batch of six high ranked First Section bands.

Pleasing

Band Secretary Graham Jones told 4BR: "It was especially pleasing to the band as in 2012 we will be competing nationally in the Second Section and were able to beat off some stiff competition from First Section bands.

MD Jonathan Camps did a fantastic job and we are now looking forward to the Area contest early next year."

The band has also announced the signing of Robert Seymour on trombone.
