Jones boy back in town

Lt Col Graham Jones is making a long overdue return to Glossop Old.

Jones

Lt Colonel Graham Jones MBE has been busy ensuring that he will not be sitting back and taking life too leisurely following his retirement as Senior Director of Music of the Household Division and Director of Music of the Coldstream Guards.

Welcome return

Later this month he makes a welcome return to the brass band world when he will lead Glossop Old Band in their annual Christmas Concert.

It will be an occasion which sees him return to an old educational stamping ground, as he was many years ago a pupil at the local Glossopdale College and for a short while, a member of the Glossop Old Band.

Done well

A spokesperson for the band told 4BR: "It’s wonderful to be able to attract such a musician back to the band – especially one who has certainly done so well in his musical career!"

The band hopes the concert will attract many former playing members to return also.

Tradition

"It’s one of the traditions of the Christmas concerts for ‘guest’ players to come along and have a blow," they added. "So if anyone wants to join us please let us know."
