Welsh League champion Goodwick Brass from Pembrokeshire, recently held its centenary celebrations.
Workshop and concert
Members of the Cory Band helped in workshops with the young players throughout the day, before the British Open champion delivered a celebration concert in the superb setting of the famous of St David’s Cathedral.
The workshop was attended by over 70 young brass players and at its conclusion a massed band of Cory and Goodwick players got together to perform some of the music they practiced during the day.
Rousing climax
The evening concert featured Cory under Dr Robert Childs in the first half, followed by Goodwick in the second under the baton of Matthew Jenkins. The two ensembles joined forces for a rousing climax with a performance of ‘Pines of Rome’, which rocked the foundations of the medieval church.
