McCann's packed lunch

Cornet virtuoso packs them in for lunch in Leeds...

McCann

Cornet virtuoso Phillip McCann recently stunned organisers of the popular Leeds Town Hall recital series, when his Monday lunchtime performance drew an audience of over 900 listeners.

Encores

Phillip was accompanied on organ and piano by friend Dr Simon Lindley in a programme of lyrical and showcase solos that saw him having to raid his cornet case for extra encores.

A spokesperson for Leeds Town Hall told 4BR: "Although the lunchtime recital series are very popular, to see an audience of this size on a Monday was nothing short of remarkable. Phillip was on superb form and could have played all afternoon."

Delighted

Phillip added: "I was delighted as it shows that there is a large and appreciative audience for solo performances such as this. There has been a growing following for my recital performances, but this was something else. We may have to get a larger venue for the next one!"
