Concluding their Autumn series of concerts, the Shirley Band went out with a bang at the inaugural Bishop Walsh School Music and Firework Spectacular.
Lourdes
The event was held in order to raise funds for the school and its annual Lourdes Pilgrimage where staff and 6th form students accompany sick and disabled people from around the West Midlands to the shrine of St Bernadette.
Over £1,500 was raised at the event, which also featured the Sutton Coldfield Community Choir and the school Choir 'Vox'.
As the school Physics teacher, it was an experience that he likened to Daniel being thrown into the Lion’s Den, but fortunately, just like the would be lion tamer, he came out unscathed4BR
Lion's Den
It fell to Rob Green, the band’s principal cornet player to provide the feature solo of the evening, in front of some 300 of the school’s pupils and parents.
