The University of Salford and the British Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (BASBWE) has launched the 2012 Salford-BASBWE Wind Band Composers Competition

Assistant Concert Manager, Richard Rock told 4BR: "The competition with a first prize of £500, is open to current and former students of the University of Salford. The works should be aimed at an amateur wind band, a duration of 3-4 minutes, on an Olympic theme."

Contract
In addition to the first prize the winner will receive the BASBWE Composition Shield, a publishing contract from Kirklees Music and a recording of their piece.
The deadline for entries is 15th January 2012.
