Brass in Concert champion adds experience to the ranks ahead of Gateshead defence.

Reigning Brass in Concert champion, Grimethorpe has announced a trio of new signings ahead of their defence of their title in Gateshead.

Experienced

The highly experienced duo of Chris Gommersall and Mark Bowater come in on solo trombone and solo cornet respectively from National Champion Brighouse & Rastrick, whilst Steve Jones, currently a 2nd year student at the RNCM joins on 2nd trombone.

Appointment

Following his appointment Chris told 4BR: "I’m really pleased to join such a great band and after seeing Grimethorpe’s busy schedule it can only help to further develop my solo playing, I’m really excited and can’t wait to get started."

Band spokesperson Gareth Crane added: "We are delighted to bring in players of this quality and wish them a long and successful career at Grimethorpe."
