Fresh from their runner up placing at the National Finals in London, the Fairey (Geneva) Band has announced the appointment of Simon Dobson as their new composer in residence. Simon takes over the role from Phil Lawrence.

A band spokesperson told 4BR: "Everyone at Fairey (Geneva) is excited by the prospect of working on a more regular basis with one of the movement’s most exciting young composing talents."
Simon added: "It’s going to be a great opportunity to be working on a more regular basis with the Fairey (Geneva) Band. I had a blast with them in preparation for the Europeans and was lucky enough to hear a wonderful world premiere of my work, ‘A Symphony of Colours’ in Montreux."

He added: "The band seem very open to the approach and sound of new music, and it will be great seeing what Russell Gray and I can come up with when we put our heads together. I'm expecting some very interesting and exciting music to happen in the next few years."
