Judges announced for Flemish Open

Jan Van der Roost, Blaise Heritier and Ian Porthouse will be the judges in the box for the 2012 Flemish Open.

The organisers of the Flemish Open Brass Band Contest has informed 4BR that the highly respected Jan Van der Roost will chair the three man adjudication team for their contest in April next year.

He will be joined by the conductor Blaise Héritier who was a judge at the 2011 European Championships in Montreux, as well as Ian Porthouse, MD of the All England Master champions, Tredegar.

Closing date

The closing date for bands to register for the contest is 30th October, and those that are interested should register their interest as soon as possible.

Contest

The contest itself will take place on the weekend of the 14th and 15th April at the Mechelen City Theatre.

Saturday afternoon will see the, Section B Bands compete, whilst Saturday evening is reserved for the first leg of the Section A contest.

Section D bands will perform on Sunday morning with Section C in the afternoon.

Prize money

With over 12,000 Euros up for grabs, bands will have to work hard with their 30 minute programmes that must include a short set piece, and a contest piece of their own choice.
