Results: 35th OMBBA Slow Melody & Quartet

There were plenty of talented players on show in Oldham on the weekend.

The 35th OMBBA (Oldham Metropolitan Brass Band Association) Slow Melody & Quartet Competition took place on the weekend.

Increased numbers

George Briggs, who has organised the event since 1976, told 4BR that he was extremely pleased to welcome the 33 competitors from bands across Oldham. "It is good to see that that the number of competitors has increased this year," he said.

Adjudicator Brian Warrington, was also impressed with the overall standard of performances in all three sections.

He added: "It is very reassuring that with all the cut backs happening at the moment there are so many talented young musicians playing in brass bands. This bodes well for the future of the brass banding movement."
