Thoresby Colliery Band has announced that they are to work with conductor Philip Harper as they prepare for their first appearance in ten years at the Royal Albert Hall in a couple of weeks time.

Judge

Philip was one of the adjudicators put Thoresby through to the Finals at the Midlands area Contest back in March.

The conductor told 4BR: "I’m looking forward to working with Thoresby for the first time on this new composition. It is a very challenging piece but the band have been working hard and are more than capable of an excellent musical performance."

Band Sergeant Kate Johnson added: "Philip is a conductor the band have always wanted to work with. We have enjoyed playing many of his arrangements as part of our concert repertoire and it will be great to get stuck into a set test piece with this talented individual at the helm."
