Leyland

The artistic partnership between the Leyland Band and composer Simon Dobson has come to an amicable end.

Fantastic time

A spokesperson told 4BR: "We have shared some fantastic times over the last four years or so and have performed his wonderful music all over the banding world."

Simon added: "I am very grateful to Leyland for the time I spent with them as Composer in Residence. I was afforded many opportunities that are rare for a composer of my age. Not only this but I also had a number of premieres that I am l very proud of."

It was truly a pleasure to work with so many open minded and enthusiastic musiciansSimon Dobson

Pleasure

He concluded: "It was truly a pleasure to work with so many open minded and enthusiastic musicians. I also made many friends within the organisation and I am sure that these friendships will ensure that my music will be played for years to come.

The time has come however for me to take my composing in a new direction. I wish the Leyland Band all the best for the future."
