Bands set for Brass in the Park

There is a fine line up of bands ready for action at Brass in the Park this weekend.

Newtongrange

Newtongrange Silver Band hosts their annual ‘Brass in the Park’ contest this weekend this weekend. The 15th running of the popular event takes place within the grounds of the National Mining Museum of Scotland in Newtongrange.

18 bands

The weekend starts with a Gala Concert by the host band, under the baton of Nigel Boddice MBE, on Friday evening followed by contest on the Saturday, where no less than 18 bands will compete against each other on the twin march and hymn tune disciplines.

The continued growth of the youth bands in Scotland is reflected by the encouraging entry of 20 bands to the Youth Contests, ranging from the Preparatory Section to the Premier Section4BR
