Newtongrange Silver Band hosts their annual ‘Brass in the Park’ contest this weekend this weekend. The 15th running of the popular event takes place within the grounds of the National Mining Museum of Scotland in Newtongrange.
18 bands
The weekend starts with a Gala Concert by the host band, under the baton of Nigel Boddice MBE, on Friday evening followed by contest on the Saturday, where no less than 18 bands will compete against each other on the twin march and hymn tune disciplines.

Praise in Brass
Sunday’s entertainment spreads beyond brass bands to include music from Jazz, Ceilidh and Pipe bands, as well as an Accordion Orchestra.
The Annual ‘Praise in Brass’ hymn concert is presented by Newtongrange Band, whilst the weekend is rounded off with the Grand Finale presented by the host band, including massed items with the Lothian & Borders Police Pipes and Drums.
