Newtown Silver Band under its MD Steve Edwards, recently held a concert in aid of the ‘Help for Heroes’ charity at St Nicholas Church, Montgomery with special guests the Guilsfield Singers, and the Montgomery Primary School Choir.

Introduced by compere Helen Bennett, the very large audience, enjoyed a varied programme of music in what proved to be a highly successful evening.

The High Sheriff of Powys, the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Powys, members of Montgomery Town Council, H4H Volunteer County Co-ordinators and some members of the Armed Forces who had recently returned from Afghanistan all attended the event.
