Sellers International Youth Band recently launched a series of workshops designed to give the youngsters an intensive broad based to music.
Successful
Chris Bradley, principal percussionist at Opera North led Sellers players through a hugely successful first event, an engrossing rhythm workshop, with great personality ensuring that the young players all got the utmost out of the day.
Starting with basic clapping, the class progressed to more complicated rhythms and eventually to improvisation using their instruments.

Diverse music
Sellers MD Alexandra Kerwin told 4BR: "It’s is both mine and our co-conductor, Simon Kerwin’s aim to give the band as many diverse music experiences as possible. It benefits the band of course but it also is of huge importance to the players in their music education. Many thanks go to Chris, he was a delight to work with."
Plans
Plans are now in progress for the next workshops including, jazz, singing and classes led by leading players beginning in the Autumn.
