The 2011 National Youth Intermediate Champion of Great Britain, Wardle High School, recently enjoyed further musical success, this time at the prestigious National Festival of Music For Youth held at Birmingham Symphony Hall.
Terrific
Judge, Keith Hewson appreciated Wardle’s choice of programme that included the march ‘On the Quarterdeck’, as well as the concert works, ‘Dimensions’ and ‘The Lost Chord’, commenting on how he felt the band under the direction of Lee Rigg, had made the pieces ‘sound so easy’, in what was what he described as, ‘a terrific performance by a wonderful band’.
I am also proud of Lee Rigg's musical direction of the band. He has worked them hard but they enjoy working with him and performing to this high standardJanet Emsley, Director of Performing Arts
Incredibly proud
Janet Emsley, Director of Performing Arts at Wardle told 4BR: "The staff and parents that were involved in producing as well as listening to their performance are incredibly proud of the band’s achievement."
Janet added: "I am also proud of Lee Rigg's musical direction of the band. He has worked them hard but they enjoy working with him and performing to this high standard.
Many of the young people who continue to play in this band will also contribute to our associated Wardle Anderson Band, thus ensuring continuity for the players into the adult banding community."
