The British Trombone Society has released details of its 2012 Composer Competition.
Six categories
The competition is open to both BTS and Non-BTS members, with six categories of composition.
The six categories are as follows:
1. Unaccompanied trombone
2. Trombone & Piano
3. Trombone & Brass Band
4. Trombone & Rhythm Section/Big band
5. Trombone Quartet for Junior players (under 16 years)
6. Trombone Quartet for Senior players
All submissions must be received by December 1st 2011 and will be judged by a team of expert trombone players and composers from within and outside the BTS.

Prizes
Prizes include the publication of your score by a music publisher and its performance at a future BTS event in 2012 as well as the Black Dyke Band Festival on 20th May 2012.
The winner of each section will have an opportunity for their compositions to be played and recorded by leading UK trombone players.
Entry to the competition is free to BTS members and £30.00 to non-members.
