Darwen hit a six or two at Whit Friday

Darwen Brass recently enjoyed a fine 'Knight's' work on the Whit Friday circuit...

Darwen Brass

Darwen Brass recently took part in the Whit Friday March contests concentrating on the Tameside circuit.

The band played ‘Knight Templar’ at eight contests, and were delighted to win best Fourth Section Band at no less than six venues.

Successful

Darwen were successful at Dukinfield, Hurst Village, Broadoak, Droylsden, Carrbrook and Audenshaw and as well as the Fourth section prizes, the band had some excellent overall results, including their best result of the night, coming 6th overall at Broadoak.

I was so pleased with the mature consistent playing at all the contests, and would like to thank all players for their efforts on the nightMD, Steve Hartley

Worked hard

MD Steve Hartley told 4BR: "We were all delighted with the results. We worked hard in our preparation for the night, and it is good to the hard work rewarded with success."

He added: "I was so pleased with the mature consistent playing at all the contests, and would like to thank all players for their efforts on the night."

Night to remember

It was certainly a night to remember, and the latest success story for band and conductor who have been together since the bands formation in April 2007.
