4BR has been informed that the outcome of the English National Championship in Preston on 25th June will be decided by the aggregate placings of the competing bands and not the aggregate points over the two disciplines of the event.
In the event of a tie, the placing on the set work will take precedent.

It has also been confirmed that compere Bob Kerwick will introduce each of the own choice selections from the bands.
Prize packages
Further details have been announced of the generous prize package to the winning band, with the new champion taking away £4,000 from sponsors Geneva Instruments, plus an additional £1,000 to help towards their Rotterdam 2012 European expenses from the BFBB and 1,000 euros donated by Besson.
In addition the winners will be able to parade the English National Championship trophy as well as a banner donated by TOR Designs and a commemorative trophy for the winning conductor.
The runner up will receive £3,000 with the third place band winning £2,000, whilst the ‘Best Instrumentalist’ on the set work will gain £250 and a trophy from sponsors Geneva Instruments.
TOR Designs will present the youngest player on the day with a commemorative banner.

Lifetime Service Award
It has also been announced that the post contest presentations will include a joint BFBB Lifetime Service Award to Dr Roy & Muriel Newsome in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the brass band movement.
BFBB Chairman Robert Morgan MBE, told 4BR: "Roy, of course, has conducted and adjudicated at the highest level and has travelled the world to assist with the development of bands in many countries. His work with the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain is well documented, as is his time with the ‘Listen to the Band’ radio programme."
He added: "Accompanying Roy on his travels has been his delightful wife Muriel, known affectionately to many as 'Mother', always friendly and supportive and also working for many years with the NYBBGB.
The brass band movement worldwide is indebted to them both and we are pleased today to recognise their hard work and achievements."
Study scores
