Ripon City, took the home town honours at the Ripon Entertainment Contest on 4th June, beating their rivals in a keenly contested event, adjudicated by Richard Evans.

All 12 bands, all with their own ideas on entertainment, played a 20 minute programme which had to include a march, hymn and solo item.
After several excellent performances there was a tie for the overall title on accumulated points for music and entertainment between Ripon City and Ireland Colliery (Chesterfield).
