Cowes Concert Band's fundraising efforts for new instruments have just received a double boost.
Finance boost
The Isle of Wight band has received £450 from BBC Radio Solent’s Community Chest fund and £202 from Waitrose supermarket’s Community Matters initiative.
This comes on top of a recent £500 donation from HSBC and £250 from the local Corries Cabin fish and chip shop. The band’s 60th anniversary concert in May also added £300 to the cause.

Good start
Musical Director Andy Norman told 4BR: "Our fundraising campaign has got off to a good start which is very encouraging. The local community seem to be getting behind us and we will continue exploring other opportunities in the coming months."
New recruit
On the playing front the band has been boosted by new recruit Debbie Wightmore on tenor horn. Debbie played for Vectis Brass for many years before taking a break from banding.
