The future of the proposed United Kingdom Brass Band Alliance has been thrown into confusion with the news that the UKBBA working party has postponed its forthcoming summit meeting.
Statement
The latest statement from the UKBBA working party is as follows:
The UKBBA working group has reluctantly decided to postpone the third summit meeting planned to take place in Birmingham on Saturday 2nd July. A new date will be arranged in due course.
A spokesman for the group said: "Having worked well together for 10 months we now find ourselves, as a result of feedback (including some expressed opposition) to the published proposals, needing more time to iron out the final details before presenting our recommendations to the next summit.
The group feels the next summit is so important that to rush it through without thorough preparation would be a mistakeUKBBA working party
Apologise
The group feels the next summit is so important that to rush it through without thorough preparation would be a mistake and the presentation would be less than bands and their representatives would expect. We of course apologise to organisations already having made plans to attend."
The working group will however endeavour to set up a meeting on 2nd July with the UK's eight regional committees to discuss the UKBBA proposals. Invitations for this will be done via personal contact in the next week or so.
