The five in a row Irish champion Drogheda Brass Band’s new €500,000 state of the art bandroom will be officially opened this coming Sunday 22nd May.
Rescheduled
The event has been rescheduled having been cancelled due to the bad weather last December.
Led by conductor Michael Maher, the band will present a free celebration concert before the event, which will include the aptly titled ‘Dawn of a New Age’ — a fanfare and theme specially composed for the occasion by ex-member Richard Rock, who is currently playing with Hammonds Saltaire Band.

Extensive
Designed by local architects, the new premises comprises 4,400 sq,ft. of floor space encompassing a spacious main rehearsal room, 2 classrooms, and extensive music library, storage and meeting facilities.
Huge wrench
"It was a huge wrench to leave our old bandroom where we were based since the early 1900s," said Band Secretary and BBb bass player Michael Plunkett.
"However, we have to look to the future, and this new bandroom, the culmination of over 10 years work gives us superb rehearsal and teaching facilities to enable the band and School of Music to develop and secure our future for many years to come."
