Brighouse Festival of Brass

Details have been released of the forthcoming Brighouse Festival of Brass.

 

The 12th annual Brighouse Festival of Brass organised by Brighouse Lions will take place over the weekend of July 2nd/3rd.

Organisers hope it will once again be a feast of brass music in this famous brass band town, in the heart of West Yorkshire.

Solo Championships:

Saturday morning will see the Youth Slow Melody Contest held in Bailiff Bridge at the Ebenezer Methodist Church, whilst there is sure to be a big crowd packed into the Central Methodist Church for the Diggle Band and their celebrated MD James Shepherd on Saturday evening. The guest soloist is trombone star Chris Jeans.

March & Hymn Tune Contest

The popular format of road march, hymn tune and contest march will see the bands marching on Bethel Street to the Town Hall Square, with the Youth Section starting at 1.00pm on Sunday afternoon.

Defending champion Skelmanthorpe will be up against 26 bands all chasing the total prize money of £2,0004BR

Yamaha Music (UK) Ltd who have provided a 'Xeno' cornet prize for the best principal cornet of the day.

The adjudicators are David Read, Stan Lippeatt, David Hirst and Pascal Eicher.

Cambrian Brass

Delph Band

May 15 • We are seeking an enthusiastic and musically skilled Associate Conductor to lead and develop our band alongside our current Musical Director Phil Goodwin. . Rehearsals are Mondays and Wednesdays, 8-10pm at Delph Band Club.


Tintwistle Band

May 15 • We have a vacancy for a soprano cornet, and with lots of exciting engagements coming up we would love to get this seat filled!. We rehearse every Monday and Thursday 8-10pm at our own bandroom in Tintwistle, under the baton of our superb MD, Jim Henson.
